Foundation

2010

IHO EBRAR was founded in 2010 in Belgium  upon the Islamic principle illustrated in the Quran: “They feed with food–despite their own desire for it– the indigent, and the orphan and the captive (saying): ‘We feed you purely for the sake of God. We desire no reward from you, nor thankfulness.’” – Surah al-Insan 8-9.

In 2010, a community in The Hague and Antwerp, moved by earthquake of Elazig in Turkije, sprang into action. A small group of volunteers began met collecting money for victims of Elazig’s Earthquake.

2011

In 2011 we moved our head office from Belgium to Netherlands. We have organized a big emergency aid campaign for earthquake in Van in Turkey. In the same year,  after Ramadan’s and Qurbani’s projects in 10 countries IHO Ebrar became  an international relief organization.

IHO EBRAR, an international aid agency and non government organization, grew from this grass roots movement and since these first efforts, we have responded to countless more emergencies, as well as establishing long term projects such as schools, healthcare clinics and livelihood programmes worldwide.

Today we are working in more than 50 countries. By working closely with our partners and offices on the ground, we are able to distribute aid in an effective, efficient, transparent and wholly accountable manner and to make a lasting difference to the communities we work with.

Since its establishment, IHO EBRAR  has progressed from mostly offering immediate emergency aid and Seasonal Programs to a focus on severing the roots of poverty, utilizing Zakat and Sadaqa donations to develop long-term, sustainable solutions.
